Pre & Post Care for Botox/Jeuveau Treatments

For best results please follow these instructions

BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT:

  • Do not wear makeup on the day of treatment
  • Schedule your injection at a time when minor swelling or bruising will not disrupt your social obligations.
  • Do not have injections if you have had any bacterial or viral illnesses, or vaccinations within 2 weeks of treatment.
  • To lessen the likelihood of bleeding or bruising, discontinue use of blood thinning products for 5-7 days prior to treatment.
    • Including: aspirin, ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil), naproxen, Aleve, fish oil, Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, etc.
    • Alcohol is also to be avoided 24 hours pre and post treatment, as it is a blood thinner.
    • Recommended taking Arnica Montana, a natural supplement, to help reduce bruising (take 5 tablets three times per day starting one week prior to treatment and continue for a few days after treatment).

AFTER YOUR TREATMENT:

  • Swelling, bruising, and/or tenderness may occur.
  • Do not apply makeup to the treated area until about 4 hours post treatment.
  • Avoid touching or massaging the treated areas, avoid exposure to heat such as saunas or hot yoga, and refrain from engaging in intense physical activity to prevent the Botox/Jeuveau from migrating for 24 hours.
  • Staying upright and keeping your head elevated for at least 4 hours post treatment will help the product settle into place for optimal results.
  • Ice packs may be applied to the treated area for 10 minutes at a time during the first 12 hours to minimize bruising and swelling.
  • No facial massages or facials for 24 hours after Botox/Jeuveau injections.
  • You may take acetaminophen/Tylenol if you experience any mild tenderness or discomfort, but avoid blood thinners such as aspirin, ibuprofen, Advil, or Motrin for 48 hours post treatment.
  • Wait a minimum of two weeks (or as directed by your provider) before receiving any skin care or laser treatment.
  • Although some people react more quickly to certain neurotoxins, the full effect of your treatment will take between 10-14 days to fully take effect. Any adjustments needed can be performed after the initial 14 days.
